Center of the World

This is the house my grandfather built with his own hands for my grandmother.  Joe and Marian Falany resided here for 35 years or more.  It was burnt to the ground in the Detwiler Fire July, 2018.  This was a labor of love.   I wrote this in 1996ish.  It is just one dimension of feeling about this place. I am in Mariposa at the Ranch and it as if I am visiting the center of the world.  This is where all time and light meet.  Everything spins forth from this sacred place.  The tar weed smell mixed with some ancient stream of water assail the senses.  Maybe this sacred spot was sacred to ancient people and their  energy streams into us. There is an ancient underground spring that blesses this dry land with a constant magical flow.  This home is where my soul sings songs of the old days of freedom and laughter.  All quiets in the solitude of true hearts-where a red tile roof hides next to this ancient stream of water, love and life.  We in the midst, take for granted the dail

Where is Hunter's Valley???

Detwiler fire happened in July, 2017.  Mariposa County is below Yosmite essentially.  Hunters Valley Rd. is hard to get to and is about 5 miles east of Lake McClure. The  Detwiler Fire  was a  wildfire  that burned across  Highway 49 , east and south of  Lake McClure , in  Mariposa County, California . Ignited shortly before 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 16, 2017, the fire consumed up to 2,500 acres (1,000 ha) within its first day of burning. [2]  By Thursday morning, on July 20, the fire was over 70,000 acres (28,000 ha) in size with only 7 percent containment. [1] First reported at 3:56 p.m., the Detwiler fire was reported burning near Detwiler Road and Hunters Valley Road, 2 miles east of Lake McClure. [1]  Within three hours, it had grown to over 1,000 acres as it spread primarily to the northeast. Mandatory evacuations were ordered for all homes along Detwiler Road, Hunters Valley Road, and Hunters Valley Access Road. [3]  A Red Cross Evacuation Shelter was set up at McCay Hall,
